Raps School Administration

Editor, The News: I In this age of rising prices and wages, Ind increased demands from all sides, I ban well sympathize with any public serfyant who attempts to protect the public's interests and to represent the wishes of the voter. However, in the past few weeks I have been appalled by the machinations of the Ann Arbor Public School Administration and the so-called educational specialists hired to run our schools. Never have the school administrators seemed so unconcerned with their responsibility to the citizens of Ann Arbor, and even less concerned with their responsibility to aecep:able moral values. As an example, one has only to look at the most recent controversy, the alleged fraudulent Bautista vitae. Now we find that the school board has provided more than $3,000 for an investigation trip to California for Dr. McPherson, who was accompanied by Ms. Bautista and Mr. Mcllnay, the Deputy Superintendent for Planning. Why is it now necessary to send three people and spend more than $3,000 of school money for this purpose? j Normally references and educational records of job candidates are investigated before hiring.A certified transcript from a school costs only a few dollars. I cations credentials can be verified at the I local librarles gratis. Is there something I else that has to be done in California? I Sending the parties involved to verify their owri credentials is like sending the wolf to watch the sheep. . . Needless to say, a great many voters have long since lost confidence in the McPherson regime, and are suspicious of his motives and methods. Many of the voters are now beginning to wonder about certain members of the school board as well. I urge the voters of Ann Arbor to be very careful of how they cast their votes in the June 12 election, not only for new candidates, but especially for the incunir bents. Is the candidate's desire to truly represent the voter and improve our schools, or is it to maintain himself in a position of prestige and influence? The education of the young citizens of Ann Arbor is at stake.
