A cof film on venérea? I disease, which was secured I by the County Health DepartI ment Health Education OfI fice and purchased by the I Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor, has been presented to the Ann Arbor public schools for use in the classroom. John Harvey of the Health Education Office said the 16minute film, entitled "VD Every 30 Seconds," discusses venereal disease from a health viewpoint, stresses the importance of early treatment, and is designed to stimulate discussion. The local Kiwanis Club and health officials say they believe the film will be of considerable valué to the schools 7 7V" oecause of "the alarming rate of increase of gonorrhea in young people." Harvey cited an article in The News on Nov. 6 by Glen Harris, county government reporter, in whic-h it was reported that "in 1960. there were 86 reported cases of gonorrhea in the county Last I year there were 663 reported cases, an increase of more than 200 cases over the previous year." Dr. Theron Belden, I man of the Kiwanis Club 's I Boys and Girls Committee I presented the film to thè I schools.
