The Ann Arbor Jaycees have I endorsed the Washtenaw 1 medíate School District' s millage and bonding proposals to íinance a countywide vocational education center which will ! face county voters on Dec. 18. The same issue is opposed by the Ann Arbor Chapter of the I National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The Jaycees said they i pressed certain reservations about the proposed vocational education project relating tol the structure of the center, but I the over-all feeling was that the proposal was a necessary and desirable addition to the broad range of secondary educationj opportunities in the county ." The group said the vocational I educaüon project represents "a major step forward m providing real benefits to the noncollege bound student who, in the long run, represents more than three quarters of our high school Dopulation." The Jaycees tabled discussion 1 of the three-part, $9.5 millionl bonding issue of the Ann Arborl School District because of al "lack of information on whichl to base a reasonable recom-j mendation." I Explaining the NAACP si opposition to the vocaüonal center Dr. Albert H. Wheeler said: .... 1 "The proposed admimstration I arrangement doesn't give black citizens of the county any assurance of representaron on the policy making board. Also there needs to be clarification of the potential opportumües for Tjlack students to receive trainling for such skills as plumbingl land electrician work, and the lopportunities for them to obtam lemployment if such is avaüa1 The NAACP may adopt resollutions on other bonding issues at its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Itoday at the Community CenI Ier.
