Two .. meetirfgs are scheduled I this week at which candidates i for the Ann Arbor Board of Education are scheduled to appear. j The Secondary Schools Improvement Group - a group of Ann Arbor parents making a critical evaluation of the school system and working on positive alternatives to it - wül hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the meeting room of the Ann Arbor Public Library, 343 S. Fifth Ave. During the meeting, specific proposals will be made. Reports wül be given on the fields of educational innovation, student participation in decision-making, drop-out rate, educational opportunities for all, discipline, staff hiring and counseling. The 11 candidates in the June 8 school board election have been invited to attend and comment on the group's goals. A "Meet the Candidate" night for Board of Education hopefuls sponsored by six special education interest groups will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Public Library OptinP mom. The session is open to all interested persons and will present tne candidates' general philosonhies as well as special educa?fon ideas. There wiU be a question-and-answer period following individuaLcommentS; 1 The sponsoring groups are: the Association for Children with Social and Learning.Difficulties, Cerebral Palsy unit, Helpers of the Hearing Handicapped, Michigan Association for Emotionally Disturbed Children, Washtenaw Association for Retarded Children and the Association of the i Physically Handicapped. i The program is being organized by Mrs. Leonard GreenI baum of the Children with Social I and Learning Difficulties group.
