1 - HRP supports both the 1 i b r a r y millage and the renewal of the schooloperating millage. 2 - We would support the use of sinaller alternative secondary units. The school's budget doesn't have enough money for a third high school. As another measure to stop overcrowding, and give students more power to direct their own education, we would cali for more individualized, independent studies courses that students could pursue outside of the normal school building. 3 - First, we would definitely drop the plans for the proposed "school for disruptive youth;" then we would start to work on lowering administrators' salaries. By agitating for a steeply graduated income tax to replace the property tax for financing the schools, we would be taking the first steps to insure that curricular reductions were deemed to be necessary, then we believe the decisión of what to cut or retain should lie with a community board in each school attendance area composed of one half students, one fourth staff, one fourth parents and other members of the community, democratically elected by their peers (i.e., stud e n t s would elect student members, etc.)
