It Was Almost Too Easy
IT WAS'almost too easy VffieiT a school millage renewal passes I by almost three to'öne and a separate one mili increase passes by almost two to one, it's obvious there has been some preparation. The Citizens School Millage Committee and backers did not take this election for granted, figuring perhaps that a low voter turnout would aid their cause. Ann Arbor voters WERE conspicuous by their absence, but it was people - parents, students, staff, citizens - who supplied the push for approval. Opposition never really formèd to either the renewal or the one Ui -rttfest,' and VH&M dicated that the tax requests were sound, well articulated and straightforward. The needs wère spelled out and the alternatives outlined. We don't know that the sizable pluralities were any kind of a vote of confidence in the district's new superintendent, Dr. Harry Howard. Some are looking at it that way. Let's just say that Monday's vote is an auspicious beginning for Dr. Howard, who is still 1 ing his way around. It's a little too early to talk about votes of confidence yet, but it's good for Howard to have this one behind him. i
