Washtenaw County resídents who are not registered but want to vote in the Jan. 22 special school election have until Dec. 21 to register. Only one item will be on the ballot: a one-mill charter millage for building and operating a career center to serve 2,400 high students from local 10 school districts within the Washtenaw Intermedidate School District (WISD). Residents 18 years old or more living in the following school districts are eligible to register and vote: Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Willow Run, Lincoln Consolidated, Milan, Whitmore Lake, Saline, Manchester, Chelsea, Dexter. i - City and township clerks are required by law to stay open until 5 p.m. Dec. 21 to take registrations. The Ann Arbor City Clerk's office will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 21. The charter millage would be split in the following manner: .29 mili for construction and .71 mili for operating expenses. the Rfcdgram at the career center would include occupational preparation for students who plan to enter the labor market immediately upon graduation, supplemental programs for college bound youths, remedial instruction' íor special education and handicapped children and adult programs needed for graduation requirements.
