Ann Arbor and área voters on Tuesday, Aug. 8, will need their wits about them as they step into the polling places to trim one of the bulkiest fields in memory via the primary election procedure. Seventy-two candidates have Ann bor, Washtenaw, or area connections either through place of residence or because they are seeking to represent constituencies in the city, county, or area. Members of the ever-watchful League of Women Voters have contacted all 72 candidates with a list of prepared questions. In all but a few instances, the candidates replied. The News, as it does in all local elections, cooperates with the League by publishing the information. Only dates facing primary opposition were questioned. The series begins with the answers from candidates for county offices. Others will be published between now and election day. These questions were put to the county office-seekers : 1 - What training and experience have you had which qualify you for this office? 2- What changes in the organization or _operaüon of county government do you think are necessary or desirable to further improve the functioning of the office you seek? Along with knowing which candidates they favor, many voters also must remember new polling places.
