LANSING - University of Michigan Regent Lawrence B. Lindemer of Stockbridge today announced he will seek the Republican nomination to a full eight-year term on the Board of Regents. Lindemer was first appointed to the board in 1968 by Gov. George Romney to finish the unexpired term of a regent who resigned. Lindemer lost in the election that fall but was again appointed in 1969 by Gov. William G. Milliken to serve the unexpired term of the late Alvin M. Bently. The 49-year-old Lindemer has had a long life in Republican party politics, interspersed with both victories and defeats. A University of Michigan gradúate, Lindemer served as a state representative from 1951-52. He was assistant Ingham County prosecutor from 1949-50. Lindemer was special assistant to former President Herbert Hoover in legislative matters in 1955 and was assistant to the "Second Hoover Commission" that studied government organization from 1953-54. He served two terms as Republican State Chairman, from 1957-1961 and in 1966 Lindemer ran for attorney general, but lost the election to Frank J. Kelley. Lindemer is the third Republican to announce his candidacy for one of the two posts which will become vacant Dec. 31. The other two are Deane Baker of 4944 Scio Church Rd. and Jean D. Cobb i of Jackson. Democratie candidates for the post include Marjorie Lansing of 1825 Geddes, John R. Koza of 555 E. William and Thomas A. Roach of Grosse Pointe Park. Both major parIties will nomínate candidates for the Nov. 7 ballot at state conventions later thus summer.
