Burgoyne Loses 400 Votes
A 400-vote error ta. the unoffiftal eíection returns in the Circuit Court race has leít second place winner Shirley Burgoyne less than 150 votes from her closest opponent, Judge Edward Deake. The error was in the unofficial returns Erom the the county building and was made by an Ypsilanti precinct worker who, when telephoning the results to the tabulating center, reported 400 more votes for Mrs. Burgoyne than she actually received. That error was discovered when the official poll book was brought to the county building after the election. The Board of Canvassers, which officially certifies the election, told The News today the final outcome of the race would not be known until the entire election has been certified. Judge Patrick Conlin was the easy winner in the four-way contest receiving 52,834 votes according to unofficial returns. Mrs. Burgoyne, who will be the first women Circuit judge in county history if she proves to be the winner, received I 37,Ej35 according to the unofficial returns while Deake received 37,378 in the unofficial tally.
