" Tí f '. 'U I Ar.n Arbor's new reft-wing, I ent party will conduct a write-in, sticker I ccmpaign in next April's city elections. I That was the major decisión made by I the new party when it met in I tion over the weekend at the University I Student Activiürs Building. Party officials issued a press release I which said about 75 persons attended I the convention, "representing many 1 ferent interest groups ..." The party inade no decisions about I which races it would enter in April, but I reached a consensus that the selection I of candidates, iormulation of platform, I organization or party structure and I lection of a party name would be scheduled for a second convention in January. The party d i d select a temporary ' steering cominittee of nine members. Members of the steering committee and theii duties arj Steven Nissen, general coördinator; Fred Rosen, fund raising; Dan Boothby, research; Susan Rothberger, January convention planner; Nancy Rosen, community contact; Bob Neff, presa spokesman; Peter Dentón, campus contact; Lennie Sinclair, publicity; and David Goldstein, legal action. The party also decided to seek legal remedy in the courts to what it considers undemocratic state laws regarding the placement of third parties on the ballot. The group voted to ask the City Council to place a proposed amendment to ihe City Charter on the April ballot which would make it easier for independent parties to get on the ballot. The party alsc voted to support a potential strike against the University by I members of the American Federation of l State, County and Municipal Employés.
