Results of Monday's primary election, canvassed yesterday, were accepted by City Council last night and candidates for the April 5 election were certified. Final figures showed only minor changes from the unofficial totals given Monday night. Republican mayoral nominee Jack J. Garris' total remained the same at 4,814 votes while Louis D. Belcher lost two votes in the canvass, bring his total down to 4,206. Lewis C. Ernst's total remained at 311. Running unopposed, Democratie Mayor Robert J. Harris received 3,271 votes, a 28 vote increase over unofficial returns. In the First Ward, Norris J. Thomas' total in the Democratie primary increased to 787 (compared to 732 unofficially) while his opponent Paul Spann's total remained the same at 265. The Second Ward vote totals were unchanged, with Democrat Robert G. Faber receiving 534 compared to David Bloom's 279. The Fourth Ward final figures saw Richard Hadler increase from 1,384 unofficially to the canvassed figure of I 1,446. His opponent Ronald T. West's total did not change at 698. Other totals, for unopposed dates, were 573 for First Ward can Edward P. Rutka (down from 666 I Monday night), 643 for Republican Don W. Robinson in the Second Ward (no change), and 405 for Democrat Gilbert B. Lee in the Fourth Ward (no change).
