Cyl 4, f too The Washtenaw County AFLCIO Council, which representsj more than 5,000 area workers, j voted last night to endorse the candidacy of embattled Sheriff Douglas J. Harvey who is seekjug re-election in the Nov. 5J general election. Harvey, a Democrat, is seek-j 'ng a new term with an exten-i sive background of allegations, j including charges of unfairj labor practices raised by former deputies and a Board ofl Supervisors interrogation concernirá questions of finances. He is running against formen Sheriff George A. Petersen, Ihe j flepublican candidate, and Jim i Lewii who is appearing on the New Politics ticket for Washtenaw County Sheriff. Sooie 26 AFL-CIO Council; delegates, representing all erganized labor except UAVVj workers in this area, voted uearly unanimously to support j Harvey, according to Troy Shepherd, president of the council. Petersen lost to Harvey four ears ago.
