Black Students At Emu Walk Out On Meeting
YPSILANTI - Represehtatives of the Black Students Association walked out on a meeting with Eastern Michigan University officials Friday after the university refused to change its position regarding 14 students arrested a week ago. Dr. Harold E. Sponberg,! EMU president, said the 1 cials will go ahead and consideri what they think the black stu-j dent demands are despite thel walkout. Officials waited I through the afternoon but nol black students returned to thel meeting. I According to university 1 ficials, black student leaders refused to discuss their demands unless amnesty was granted the arrested students. They were arrested in an abortive takeover try of the adminstration buüding. "We would rather have the benefit of counsel of the concerned students but we wülattempt to do what we can deal with their concerns even ïfthey] ■will not meet with us,' Sponberg said. A spokesman said the university had received no word ot any pending demonstraron or other action by the black students. _____
