WASHINGTON - Congressman Marvin L. Esch, R-Ann Arbor, has asked the Environmental Protection Agency to allow additional time for comments on its forthcoming impact statement on the proposed Lake Erie interceptor. "Because this proposal is of great concern to so many," said Esch, "I have asked the Environmental Protection Agency to provide every opportunity following the release .of their statement for all interested parties to study EPA's recommendations and prepare their own comments." The Lake Erie Interceptor is a regional system proposed by the State Water Resources Commission. Under the plan, wastes from Washtenavv, Wayne and Oakland Counties would be piped to Lake Erie for treatment and dumping. . Last year Congressman Esch asked that EPA undertake a comprehensive environmental impact study of the proposal prior to any final decisión. The EPA statement is expected to be released within 30 days.
