Eastern Michigan University won't be getting just four 1970 Huron High School graduates this fall. It will be gettíng a mellow barbershop quartet named "The Uncalled For" in the bargain. Composed of Dan van der Kooy, 18, Steve Sutherland, 18, Roger Storm, 18, and Mike Butler, 17, the smoothsounding quartet was formed about two months ago. The young men knew each other as members of the Huron High A Cappella Choir and Chamber Choir for the past two years. They also all performed in the spring musical, "Carousel " The youths decided to form a barbershop quartet because they like the sound. Butler aïso gave another reason: "We're the only barbershop quartet wé know of in Ann I Arbor. There's too much to competition among' the rock groups." A girlfriend of one oL the boys whipped up some snappy red vests, and straw hats and red-and-white arm garters completed their outfits. Since May, the group has sung at "Bimbo's" twice and at a few other local spots. They also were invited to entertain at the Huron High Senior Banquet in early June. But their favorite assignment, they say, is cheering up patients at'St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. "We really ..mjoy that, becaut.ythe people really appreciate it," one pf the boys explained. "The Uncalled Four" has roamed the halls of the hospital several times this spring and summer, singing for anyone who asks them. "Once it got to be a real request session," the one member of the group said. "A nurse kept coming., in and saying some other patiënt down the hall wanted tö Jiear I us." I About a month ago the I quartet did "our only paid I job."
