Collins Trial Cost
Put At $52,067
County Clerk Robert Harrison estimated
the unofficial cost of the John Norman
Collins trial at $52,067. Harrison gave a
breakdown of the individual costs as fol-
lows (only the first two figures are "ac-
tuals," the rest estimates): jury fees —
$19,115; juror's mileage — $452; housing
— $9,000; security guards — $10,000; wit-
ness fees — $7,500; investigation fees —
$2,500; and attorney fees — $3,500.
Of the last figure, Harrison admitted
that the given estimate "may be very
wrong" but said that it is the closest the
county has at this point.
