(SaATTtB, Jim tst. 18S8. ■il ÁSGUS ■ From a glance at the papers this morning in whicii I note the extreme cold thatis beingexperieuced throughout the eas(, I am able to compreliend full well the severe vveather that seems at present so prevalent in the northern states. Thinking pfrhaps an idea of wh'at the weather is here on Puget Sound niight interest the readers of'the AuHüs, 1 will endeavor to supply the f acts. While Iwould uot like to disparage in any way the climate of my native state these facts but serve to promote my appreciation of the climate of western Washington. This climate may not snit every one, but is good enough for me. LTp to the present writing we have piobably had not more than tvventy white frosto. The weather since Oc. tober first has been about equally divided between sunny, rainy, and cloudy days, the greater pait of this time mild and agieeable, with the thermometer ranging at an average of 50 degrees. not a single snowrlake bas bee seen anyhere in this viciniiy thus f'ar. üere it is, the New Voar and yet no dicatiou of snuw. '1 he grasa is still green, while io some of our gardens. llowers are in f uil blootn. I long for a bleigh ride, yet wlien I realize it could not be without the cold, co!d show, I clispel the thougiit at once and feel content to do without. Kespectfully,
