Two Years at Ionia,

Charles Perrin is the man whose insatiable appetite for cigars and bread got him into trouble at Ypsilanti. In fact he was seen at an early hour, that is at four o'clock in the morning, complacently emerging from a bakery with a box of cigars under one arm and a roll of bread under the other. Not only was he seen, but successful chase was given and Justice Joslyn, before whom the unfortunate smoker and bread eater was hauled, bound him over to the circuit court. To get at the cigars Perrin was obliged to break into the bakery. As it was not yet light when he did so, he had committed the crime of burglary. He was arranged before Judge Kinne, Monday, plead guilty to the charge and was at once sentenced to two years at lonia.
