A Wedding Reception.

The Petrolia Advertiser contains the following account of the wedding reception given our former townsman, Gilbert S. Pitkin, on his return to Petrolia with his bride: "On Friday evening, last, our young townsman, Mr. G. S. Pitkin, accompanied by his bride from Auburn, N. Y., arrived home and were met at the G.T.R. depot by a large number of friends, who had turned out to do him honor. The Petrolia brass band was in attendance and contributed its quota to the welcome. The magnificent span of greys of Mr. Van Tuyl's attached to a handsome carriage took the happy couple to the residence of Mr. Alex. McDonald, where Mr. Pitkin has a lovely suit of rooms. There the party was met by a number of friends who tendered the happy couple a right royal welcome to Petrolia. The fine, handsomely furnished house was beautifully lit up, and contributed not a little to the enjoyment of the event. At ten o'clock the whole party sat down in the spacious dining room to a most delicious dejeuner, after which the folding doors were thrown open and a few steps in the terpsichorean art were indulged ín. In Mr Pitkin's rooms a large number of costly and handsome presents greeted the happy couple, principally contributed by PetroIia friends. Since then large numbers have been received from friends at a distance, Auburn. N.Y., Chicago, Ann Arbor and elsewhere. We join with Mr. Pitkin's numerous friends in wishing both him and his lovely young bride all the happiness and joy a beneficent Providence can favor them with."
