The thirteen gas companies of Boston are being organized into a trust The property of the syndicate is valuad at $14,000,000. During 1887 the Lake Superior iron mines produced 4,667,652 tons of ore, and the total shipments for the year show an increase of 1,090,295 tons over 1886.

The Missouri Pacific has made a voluntary reduction of from 10 to 24 per cent on all classes of freight in Kansas, and the Santa Fe on Friday follovred suit The Union Pacific and other roads will probably meet the cut.

The great Bass Brewing company of England bas been reorganized with a capital stock of over $20,000,000.

Sherman and  Bell, the oldest auctioneers in Milwaukee, assigned Monday; liabilities, $26,000 ; assets not stated.

Hecht & Putzel, shoe dealers at Baltimore, have failed. Attachments aggregating $78,036 have been issued against the clothing house of Reinhardt & Coy, of Dallas, Tex.
