State Agent D. P. Greene and Superintendents of the Poor Aprill, Masón, and Loomis, with Judge Harriman, inspected the jail last Friday and found seven prisoners conflned therein, one awaiting trial, another committment and live serving sentences. The total number conflned in the jail during the past six months was 155, of whom six were female. Tvvo of the womeu had been in jail for being drunk and disorderly and tour for vagrancy. Of the male prisoners, 95 were drank and disorderly, 15 charged with larceny, 22 with being drunk, 1 with wife beating 4 insane, 3 false pretenses, 1 burglary, 1 vagrancy, 2 disordeny, 1 assault with mtent to kill, 1 assault and battery, 1 idiotie, 1 cruelty to animáis. The absence of the greater crimináis cannot butbe .remarked. The inspectora reported that all male prisoners over 16 years of age were conöned in one room during the day time and were locked one in a room at night. They reported the cellar as being wet and sadly in need of drainage.
