The Nicaraugua canal incorporation bill was considered without action, and then tho bill granting pensions to disabled veterans and the dependeut relatives of deceased veterans was taken up, and Manderson and Turpie advocate 1 its passage. Without coming to a vote on the bill the senate held a secret session, and then adjourned until Monday. The hous received an estímate frora the treasury for $300.000 for the Highwood militory pot near Chicago, and a petition of 2.1,000 New York citizens (presented by Cox) favoring the proposed legislation for postal employés. An amendment inserting the words "and who are without other adequate means of selfsupport" was agreeti to, as was an amendmeut striking out the word "totally" bef ore the word "incapacltated." Several minor amendraents were then adopted, but without completing the bilí a secret session was held after which the senate adjourued.
