Plow Works Destroyed by Fire
Plow Workers Destroyed by Fire.
Dixon, Ills., March 13. - The Detour plow works were partially burned Monday night, involving a loss of $100,000. Only the office and storehouses filled with finished goods were saved. The works were built of stone, and only their walls were left standing. Only half an hour before the bells sounded the alarm team struck a hydrant near the water works, breaking it off, which opened the main pipe, letting the water out of the tank and preventing the engine from putting on very much pressure, and leaving it virtually without water.
