Phtladelphia, Pa. , April 3. - It was stated Monday nighl by reliable authority that Claus Sprediles, the California sugar king, bas decided to boud a reflnery in Philadelphia, and that the purchase of a site for it on the Delaware river front will be eonsumated. Mr. Spreekels spent a part of Monday in consultation with John G. Johnson, relativo to the purchase of the site for the refinory. He also conferred during the day with Mr. George Phillier, president of the First National bank, WTiarton Barker, Isaac Hough, and others. It is understood that $5,000,000 capital will be put into the enterprise, all to be supplied by Mr. Spreckels "himself , and that contraƩis for the erectiou, maehinery , etc. , will be placed in a few days.
