Section 1. Be it ordained hy the Mayor Hecorder and Aldermen of the city of Anii Arbor: That section nine of an ordiuaneu relative to the prevention of flres, made and paseed iin'Comvnon Council June 17, 1851 and amendedin Common Council October 10 1871 and again likewise amemled September 4 1882 and again likewise amendcdJuly 27 1885 and sections uine and ten of the same ordin'ance be and the same are hereby amended to read asfollows: Section 9 . It shall not be lawf ui for any person hereafter to creet or place any building or part of a building: on any lot or part of a lot Ironting on Main street between Ann street and Liberty treet; nor on any lot or any part of a lot frontiiig on eituer eide of Huron street between Second street and Fifth Street ; nor on any lot or any part of a lot on v ashington street, botween Main street and Fifth street in this city, unless such building orpartoi a building shall be constructed of stone or brick, with party or flre walle of the same material, rising at least tec inches above the roof, if the ame be covered metal or slate, and if covered with wood, then at least twofeet. Norshall it be lavrful for any person hereafter, without permission of the Common Council, toerect or place any building or part of a building on any lot or part of a lot f ronting on Main etreet between North street and Ann street; nor on any lot or part of a lot fronting on the same street betw-een Liberty street and William street; nor on any lot or part of a lot fronting on Fourth street between North street and Liberty streef uor on any lot or part of a lot f routing on the 'west side ol luttti street between North streetand Liberty Street: nor on any lot or part of a lot lronting on the east side of First street between Uatharme atreet and William streef nor on any lot or part of a lot fronting oü Second street betweeu Catharine street and Wilham street; nor on auy lot or nart of a lot on Detroit street between Ann street and the Michigan Central railroad ; nor on any lot or part of a lot fronting on Catbarine street between Second street and Fifth etreet nor on any lot or part of a lot fronting on Ann street between Second etreet and Fifth street; nor on any lot or part of a lot fronting on Huron streot between First street and Second street; nor on any lot or part of a lot fronting on Washington street between First street and Main street; nor on any lot or part of a lot fronting on Librty street between First street aadifth street; nor on any lotor part of a lot fronting on the west side of State street between Liberty street and William street; nor on any lot or part of a lot frontiug on the east side of Maynard gtreet between Libertv etreei ana imam street, unless such or part oí a hall be constructed of atone or brick with outer walls not lee than twolve iuehes in thickness and with party or tire walls of the same material and thickness rising at least ten inchesabovethe roof, if the same be coyered with metal or elte, and if covered with wood, tbeu at least two feet Provided, that nothing contained in this section shall be construed as prohibiting the erection within the limite mentioned in that clause of this Bection comineneing with the words, "Nor shall it be Jawfulfor any person herea f ter, without the permission of the Common Council, etc.," of any building of wood which shall not be more than eight feet square and ten feet in height f rom the common surface of the ground to the top1 of the plates, with roofs not to exceed one-quarter pitch, but sucii small building, shall not be made to fronton any street, nor be less than thirty feet froin the line thereof except with the consent of the couneil (nor shall more than one snch beallowed without sueh consent on any one lot or premises oecupied as one teneinent.) No barn, privy, hog-pen, slaughterhouse, or any other building which ehall be used or oecupied for any purpoee liable to prove detrimentul to the public health, or a nuisance to the oecupant or to the public, shall be built frontina on any of the public streets of said eity, nor within thirty feet f 'rom the line thereof. Section 10. Il' any person shall erect any within the limits specifled in section nine of this ordinance, contrary to the provisions therenf, the owner or owners, bnilder or builders theieof shall, on conviction of auch violation, be puniehed by a fino not c.ceeding one hundred dollars and costs of prosecution, or by iniprisonment in tbe countyjail of Wasntenaw eounty for a term not excoedinjf ninety days. in the discretion of the Justice who ehall try the offender. Such person or persous shall aleo pay a penalty of flfty dollars and costs of prosecution for each and every week such building Bhall remain so erected af ter noticefrom any member of the Common Cqnncil or flre warden to remove or alter the same.
