Mb Editor:- Something bas been said in the papers about cruelty to animáis, and I want to ask why we cannot have a humane society here, as wel] as in otber places? I saw a poor horse kicked by tlie man who backed him the wrong way. The horse went as he was guided but the man was wrong and he kicked instead of tlie horse. Hack horses are constantly being whipped while gome: ou a fast trot or even gallop. The dray horses are almost all to small for their work wbich means carryiDg tlie beaviest loads and but few of them too well fed. This is not meant for those who know how to treat these usei'ul creatures- but the owners of horses ought to know who can be trusted vvitli them.
