Denby For Second Place

EVANSVUXÏ, Ind., May 14. - The Democrats engineering the canvass of Col. Charles Denby for second place on the Jïatioual ticket are pushing it with determined vigor, and sending out a mass of literature to all delegats and prominent party men in every part of the union. The number of prominent men in tuis state who have espoused his cause despite Gray's indorsement has astonisbed the partisans of the latter, and some of the Democratie press claim that it is -norked up by the friends of Senator McDonald, who is known to be inioiical to Gray. ün the j other hand, the friends of Denby claim to have practically carried the delegations of Arkansas and Louisiana, with great eucouragemeDt from several. other southern states to stimulate their efforts.
