The University ball nine play iii saginaw to-day and with the Cass club in thi3 city to-morrow. The Democratie Club in the Univerversity will hold a big meeting to ratify Cleveland's nomonation. The Hiawatha's and the University club played eleven innings last Saturday, the score standing three to three, when darkness put and end to the contest. The RepublicanClub of the University held a mock convention last Fnday eveuing. On the flrst ballot for president, Gresham received, 97; Blaine, 58; Sherman, 53; Alger, 38; Depew, 36; Ilarrison 29, Ingalls, 28; Allison, 27; Ilawley, 20; Kusk, 12; Windom, 2; Lincoln, 1. The second ballot gave Blaine, 213; Gresham, 138; Sherman 29 and Allison 15. The ticket nominated was Blaine and Alger. The platform adopted by the republican students declares in favorof protection, condemns the administration on general principies, favored liberal pension laws, civil service reform, the admission of Dakota, etc.
