Philadelphia, May 23. - Home missions was the subject that occupied most of the day In the Presbyterian general assembly yesterday. The first proposition was one to change the time of the week of prayer, but it was decided not to do so. A committee of seven was reported to act with the Methodists ou the subject of Sunday observance. A long and interesting document on the operations of the board of home missions was then read by Dr. Norris, in which it was stated that the board had succeeded in liquidatinga debtof S31.6S1 during the past year, and had a small cash balance to carry over. An increase of receipts of $130,000 overthe preceding year was noted. The number of missionaries alded by the board was 1,480, and 17,377 members were added to the churches under the board's care. The report was accepted and members of the board whose terms expiro this year were reappoin ted. A recommendation was adopted that a committee be appointed to revise the proof texts of the standards. Kev. S. T. Lowrie, Of this city, was appointed chairman.
