The barns of Dr. W. B. Smith's farm just outside the city limits were burned ' Ăˆlonday af ternoon, while no one was at home on the premises. The loss on the barns, carriageSjinachinery etc. was f3,500 and there was an insurance of $1,560 upon the property. Luckily no live stock was consumed in the flames. Some setting hens stuck to their nest ani were burned. A day or two before the fire a couple of tramps, who were driven away f rom the farm, left threatening to get even and vowing vengnace. As the fire is supposed to be incendiary, it seems not at all unlikely that the tramps may have taken this method of getting even.
