Halifax, N. S., June 19.- The Fresbyterian general assembly whioh is in session here, has agreed to send a memorial to the British goTerumeut asking f or sueh a change in the marriage and other laws in India as will put thé Presbyterian missionaries on the same footiug in that country as that enjoyed by'the churches oL England and Scotland. Seven coke works in the Connellsville region have shut clown on account of a strike oí the employés. Two thousand men are thrown out of employment.
