New York, June 19.- A diver, n'amed Porter, who resided at Caruden, N. J. , met with a terrible death at the new bridge of the Pennsylvania railroad over the Hackensack river. He had been at the bottom of the river for some time, working at the foot of a pier. When he carne up he found that the draw had been thrown off to let a vessel pass. Potter took a seat on the top of a pier, but for some reasou he did not heed the bridgetender's signal to get out of the way when the latter was about to put the draw on, and his head was literally crushed. His remains were removed to Jersey City and theuce to Camden.
