In the last Puck is a two-page campaign cartoon by Dalrymple. In the scène ave shown a farm-house, a barn and many objects of use to the farmer. From the house flies a red flag with the legend: "To be sold for taxes - Farm, etc" Against the barn is posted a paper with "Preserve the tariffthat makes you rich ;" and another poster with the words, "Vote tor Harrison and Free Whiskey." Here are some of the objects in the picture, each being tagged as follows : Farmers' Nceessaïcs. Tax. Shingles on barn 35c per 1000 Weiitlierboardiug $2 per lUOOlt Pump 45 percent Tin cup on top of pump 45 percent Plow - 45 percent Hoe 45 per cent Kuke 45 per cent Cow salt block (salti 12c. per 100 lbs M ilk-paii 46 per cent Sorews 12c. Ib Nails 4c. lb Broom _- .25 per cent Caudlestick ,. 20 per cent Farmer' s coat 35 percent Farmer'8 hat band :S5 per cent Farmer's wite'sbackhaircomb 35 per cent Etc., etc., etc., etc. 1 o the farmer who stands on the porch vvith a "second mortgage" scroll in his hand, a starving dog witn a taxed collar between his legs and a taxed gun leaning beside a taxed broom against the taxed doorpost (his little boy Johnny wearing taxed clothes behind him)---to this farmer with blood in his eye and a big "Tax" patch on his tousers approaches a sleek, oily tariff-fattened millionaire who as yet has had none of the fat fried out of him. Then comes the following short, sharp and decisive dialogue: Protectionists Orator - "Look aiound you my friend, and reHect that you owe the magnificent prosperity which we enjoy to our glorious protective tariff."
