Detroit, Mich., Aug. 2- The steam vacht Picket, with the Thurman party on board, passed bere at 4 o'clock yesterday afternooii. No stop was made, but the yacht was met down the river by two yacht loads of enthusiastic Detroit Democrats, who waved bandauas, fired cannon and cheered when Mr. Thurman came on deek and lit'ted his hat. The trip upfrom Toledo waspleasant until toward the last, when a strong wind rougheöed the lake so that it was uncomfortable except in the cabin. Twelve miles above Detroit is the Grosse Point club house. There the Picket stopped, and an elabórate dinner was given Mr. Thurman. 'fuere ere only a few toasts, and Senator Thurmau, in his reply, spoke very briefly. After dinner Mr. Thurman passed an hour inforraally chatting with the gentlemen from Detroit, and at 8 o'clook the yacht was again boarded,and the party left tor the Oaklani house on the St. Clair river. St. Ci.air, Mich.. Aug. 22.- Judge Thurman and party arrived at the Oaklaud at 10:30 o'ciock lat night. There was no formal demonstrution, and Mr. Thurman soon retired. Port HüBON, Mich., Aug. 22.- The city is crowded in expectation of Mr. Thurmau's visit here. He will be given a grand reception.
