In Session All Night
Lincoln, Neb., Aug. 5 - The Republican state convention was called to order Thursday af ternoon at 2 o'clock. Temporary organization was effected by raaking Judge Aaron O. Wall chairman and the temporary organization was made permanent. The oonvention then prooeeded to business, but owing to the large number of candidatos the work of the convention was not finished until 7 o'clock yesterday morning. The following state ticket was nominated: For governor, Gen. John M. Thayer; lieutenant governor, George D. Melklejohn ; secretaryof state, Gilbert L. Laws; treasurer, Capt. J. E. HUI; auditor of public accounts, Thomas H. Beu ton: attorney general, WiUiam Lees; commissioner of public lands and buildings, Johu Stein; superintendent of public instruction, George B. Lane. The platform is similar to other Republican enunciations. One feature of it is a proposition to legaliza the labor holiday. After a long and heated discussion the convention by a considerable majority passed a resolution declaring it to be the sense of the Republican party that a legislativo enactment should be made submitting to the vote of the people of the state the question of constitutional prohibition.
