Report Of The Land Commissioner
Washington City, Oct. 8. - Commissioner Stoekslager, of the general land office, in his annual report f or the fiscal year ended June 30, 1888, shows that during the year 8,650,194 acres of land had been conveyed or patented from the government. The statement of lands restored to the public domain during this adrainistration is brought down to the close of the fiscal year and shows a total of 83,158,90J acres restored and 65,020,538 acres reoonimended for restoration. The eommissioner urges the necessity of extending the public surveys, because until this is done the adjustmont of railway grants and many other important matters can uot be attended to.
