Rkading, Pa., Oct. 8. - The corner stone of the J'olisli Roman Catholic cburcli, Twelfth and Spruce streets, this city, was laid yester day at'tei'noon. During the cei emony the floor, on which fuhy 2,000 men, woman and childreu wero standing, gave way, precipitaling severa! hundrad persons to tl)e basement, a distanoe of fifteen feet. Over 100 men and women were tbrowu in a heap, and all were more or less iujnred, some seriously and otbcrs fatatly. The wildest exciteraent followed, and the 5,000 spectators became panic-stricken. Cooler heads, however, went to tbe rescue of the unfortunate, aud the injured were taken into ueighboring dwellings, and physicians hastily summoned. Later the svounded were removed to their homes and to the yarions bospitals by ambulances.
