Baptist State Convention

The. Baptist State convention is in session in this city with a large attendance of ministers. The Baptist Ministers Conference began Tuesday evening withanaddressbyTheo.Nelson,L.L.D., of Saginaw. ltev.F.Adkins, of Tecumseh, was elected president, Rev. E. Chesney, of Bay City, vice-president aud Rev. D. M. Cristy,of Ithaca, secre tary. Papers were read by Rev, J . L Cheney, of Ypsilanti, Rev. F. Adkin and Rev. W. C. McCarthy, The state convention met Wednes day afternoon and in the eveniug Rev Dr. E.H. E. Jameson, of Lansing, de livered the annual sermón. The an nual report showed that 18 new churches had been organized this yea as against 5 last year. Twelve clmrc buildings were erected during the yea and nine more are being)erected, Fort flve ministerial changes took place dui ingthevear. The sessions are deepl interesting and some of the discussion quite warm. The session will continue until Sunday.
