A domocrat pole, ninety-six íeet long, was raised on. the premises of John Staebler in Superior, Wednesday eve., Oct. 17. Jim Finell, a young player still in his teens addressed those present. He talked freely on the subject of freer trade and the benefit it would prove to our country. He showed plainly to his young listeners how freer trade ana not a high protective tariff would protect our working class and break up the monopoly of the rich. He spoke of the Mills bill and its advantage and the effect of the tarifF on our working men's wages. He was highly applauded and closed with cheers for Cleveland girls who helped to raise the pole. Music was furnished by part ot the lower town colored band who greatly deserve .praise. Singing and other amusements were indulged in to a late hour, when the party broke up with tariff reduction still ringing in their ears.
