Washtenaw has one representative on the state tickets and a peer of any man in the state he is. His whole life has been spent in this county, where he was born, reared and engaged in business. Everybody knows that his life has been spotless and stainless, a good clear headed business man. Charles E. King of Ypsilanti should have 3,000 majority for metiber of the state board of education. One who has known him long and intimately writes of him. Mr. Charles E. King, of Ypsilanti, candidate for member of state aoard of education, is a native of that place and a descendant of one of the pioneer families. He received lis early education in the Ypsilanti Union school, and after a thorough Dreparation, entered the university n 1869. He graduated with the class of '73, receiving the degree of Bachelor of Arts. Since that time ie has been engaged in business with his father and is one of the successful merchants in Ypsilanti. In 1877 he was chosen a member of the school board of Ypsilanti, and was soon electea its secretary. A position he has filled satisfactorily ever since. He has thus become intimately acquainted with our public school system, and his residence in Ypsilanti has rendered him no less conversant with the working of the Normal School. Mr. King has traveled extensively, both at home and abroad. He is 37 year of age of unimpeachable integrity as the citizens of Ypsilanti who have known him from childhood will attest. With his university training, business abihty, and experience in educational affairs it is fair to sy that his election will best promote the interests of the Normal School and the cause of edcation in the state.
