Milán citizens are filled with political zeal at present. Mrs. Pinkham went to Ann Arbor the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. VanTuyle, of Ypsilanti, made Milán a short cali Saturday. Miss Leau Blinn left for Adrain Monday evening to attend the school of music. Miss C. Chapin, of Ann Arbor, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Dr. Harper. Miss Belle Taylor is very ill this week and doubts are expressed as to her recovery. Miss Cora Alien returned from Ypsilanti Friday and is quite ill with malarial fever. Prof. Hearns and his reading circle are receiving much mutual benefit from their work. Whooping cough in Milán and some of the children are having quite a serious time with it. Baptist social at the residence of Mrs. J. C. Rouse Wednesday and every one is cordially invited. Dundee has a large democratie neeting Monday evening and the Milan band was in attendance. The piohibition lecture dehvered jy Rev. Mr. Russel, of Detroit, was jronounced fine by a large audience Monday evening. The opera house was filled to the utmost with interested listeners. The concert given by the celeDrated Carman family Friday evenng at the Baptist church was a grand success. The audience feit well pleased with the entertainment and thanks are due to Rev. J. Huntington and family for their instrumentality in getting so fine a troupe to come to our progressive village. The democrats held a rousing meeting Saturday and Sunday. J. Gorman and Attorney Babbitt, of Ypsilanti, were the speakers. The opera house was filled and the meetng was quite enthusiastic and the Milan band sent forth some very fine music and looked resplendant in their new tiniforms.
