Switchmen's Strike Beaten

Indianapolis, Nov. Ü7.- The switchmen's strike is practically ended, as on the various roads yesterday there wa8 considerable niovement of freight. New men are at work witb the assistance of employés taken from other departments. Sunday night the engineers and firemen had about decided to go out, but af ter the radical advocates of such a course had their say and brought the men up to a high pitch, the conservativo engineers took a band and changed the tide. The failure of the Burlington strike, the pledges engineers had made to their respective companies not to assist other employés in their demanda or to refuse to haul traías man ed by non-union men were cited. This course had such an effect tbat last night all danger of tbeir striking bad passed. Superintendents of tbe roada say business will be reeumed as usual to-day.
