A New $75,000 Hospital Wanted

The regents of the univeisity met Wednesday to consider the apprepriations to be asked forat the haDds of the coming legislature. The principal ap" propriation asked for tMs year will be $50,000 to build new hospitals, Messrs. E. B. Pond, A. V. Hamilton and Ottmar Eberbach,a cornmittee of citizens asked the board to memoralize the legislature for 550,000 to build new hospitals, on condition thatthe city raise and contribute $25,000 to assist them in building fine new buildings. The committee stated that leading citizens have eciven them assurances that they would work for this project. Dr. V. C. Yaughn on benalf of the medical faculty, asked for the $50,000 appropriatlon on the ground of the pressing need of such a building immediately as the present quarters were very inadequate. The regents decided to ask the appropriation of theamount. Dr. Prescott presented the need of an additiou to the pharmacy department and asked $15,000 for this purpose 'and $4,000 for piping, seating and providing museum cases for the department. Dr. Taft called atteution to the crowded condition of the dental department, asked that another wing be built and the roof of the main building be raised, at a cost not to exceed $7,000. Dr. Vaughn asked for $5,000 for the equipment of a hygenic laboratory.
