M. J. Fiegel is on the sick list at present. Schooi ra Mill's district will close for a two week's vacation. The recent rain was a great benefit to the farmers,more of ït is much needed however. Two of M r. John Cubitt's children vvere quite badly poisoned d uring the past week by poison sumac. F. E. Mills is attending the state Holstein Friesian Association a Lansing this week, where he will read a payer on "the Dairy Cow". Mr. Frank Cubitt is preparing to try his fortune in the city of Detroit in the line ofbarber. Let us hope that success may crown his efForts. How active Santa Claus will be in this neighborhood I do not know. He is a good han'1, to keep a secret and doubtlessly he will be on hand. "Taxes make men rich" was the argument of our lepublican friend during the recent campaign. Now that they are due, one ought not to hear any grumbling. I suppose it will be in order to wish the editor of the Argits and all co-laborers in that line, not forgetting the devil, a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year and many returns 'of the same testive occasions. There will be a vacation in school district No. 3, taught by Miss Addie Crittendon, of Macon, Lenawee [Jounty, from the 2th of December 88, until January 2nd, '89, to give eacher and pupils the benefit of the ïolidays. Mr. Wm. Livermore while assistng Mr. J.' H. Cady, in cutting some wood with a buzz saw, brought one sf his hands in contact with the saw, the result beine that one of hts hands is minus two fingers. Buzz saws are not particular as to what they cut Mr. Charles Standbridge, ot Clare County, Mich., and family are at present visiting relatives in this vicinity. He is on his way to Oregon, which state will probably be his future home. He is goingwest to what rnay be callee], with some propricty the jumping off place. Mr. Clarence Boss, a former resi' dent of this township, and a University gradúate as miningengineer, is now engaged in business at Bessimer in the extreme northwestern part of this state near the Wisconsin line. He reports but little snow at that point so far this winter, about 4 inches. Mr. Charles Roberts has had the misfortune of having a number of his sheep badly torn by dogs. A great many worthless curs are kept by people who might keep something else of more advantage to themselves, as well as to the neighbors. Some of the sheep above mentioned had to be killed, being too badly injured to be saved.
