City Attorney Zina f. King resigned his office last Monday eveniug, feeling that he would.no iODger be able to spare the time from his private business to do the city business for the small sum which the city paid. The resignation was unexpected, although it had long been known that Mr. King regarded the salary as altogether inadequate for the work. In his resignation, he spoke of having been recorder when the present charter went into effect, when the aldermen set on one side of a ten foot table, the mayor and recorder on the other side and their hats and canes were placed in the centre of the table. The work of the city had vastly increased since then. The council adjourned af ter the resignation untilTuesday evening, when the resignation was accepted and after four ballots Thomas D. Kearney was elected city attorney.
