Conneesviixe, Ind. , Dec. 26.- Two weeks ago a young fellow namod Hawkins, of slender build and genteel manners aud dress, came into the neighborhood of Brownsville and obtained board and lodging witb Milton Baiubridge. Saturday nigbt Hawkins went to the house drunk and began to abuse Mrs. Bainbridge, fiually strikiug her and knocking her down. Her sister then ran out and called in the husband. who seized a shot-gun and at ones opeued fire upon his wife's assailant. The first load riddled Hawkins' arm, whereupon he turned and ran out of doors. The husband seeraed to have become frenzied. He foliowad Hawkins, and at the corner of tne house emptied another load into bis back. The victim feil, dying, upon his bands and knees, and Bainbrigile, with the ferocity of a maniac, jumped upon his prostrata iorm, and, with clubbed gun, beat bis bead out of all ressmblance to humanity.
