Sas Francisco, Deo. d9 - Tho contest between McAuliffe, the charapion heavyweigbt of tho Pacific coast, and Jaekson, the colored champion oí Australia, occurred at the gymnasium of the California Athletic club last nigbt. McAuliffe was favorite in the betting two to one. Fully 2.0UO persons witnessed the fight. McAuliffe weighed 230 pounds and is t feet % of an inch iu beight, Jackson's weight was a little over 200 aud h8 heiglit 6 feet J inch. Por the first nine ronuds there was some heavy hitting by both of the lichters and Jackson showed wonderful quickuess, aud the points were decidedly ia his favor. He forced McAuliffe arouud tbe ring and gave him sorae heavy blows, gettiua; a les number and lighter ones in return. After the ninth round the Bghting was weak on both sides until the twentythird round, when Jackson went iu with a rush aud poimded his adversary ferociously. In tlie twenty-fourth round the Californian could not come to time aud the fight waa awardad to Jackson.
