A plata, broad ring, massive, antiqna nd golden, Lieth before me now, Hallowed by memories saered, pure and olden, And a heart spoken vow. I lift it gently; by tho moonbeam's glimmer I tracff an ancient word, "Mizpah," no other; btit my eyes grow dimmer, And my beivrt's depths are stirred. From i,he bri;rlit crold Time's never tirinf; flnger llave nearly worn that prayr; But on the r.ablot of my beart it lin;;ers, 'Ti wi iitn ohangeleèa there. Watch betwcsn us wtaen with this Ufe aweary, Wlien with dark woes opprest; When fainting in our labore, endless, droary, We flnd no rest. Oh ever watch ! through all the yoars so Seetiag Through weal and woe; Tul our tired hearts hare ceased thelr reítles beoting Id grave niounds low. And when at last, "life's fltíul fever ooded," We soar on high, Oor songs of praise shall evermora be blended Benath Thy lovlDg eye.
