Young Men In The Senate
Henry Clay enjoyed among various distinctions that of being the youngest man ever elected to the United States senate. He had not reached the con! stitutional limit of age - 30 years - when elected, but had just passed it when he took bis seat. Franklin Pierce was only 32 when he was elected. Mr. Irby, the senator-elect from South Caroj lina, will be the youngest inember of j the next senate, as Senator Morrill will be the oldest.
